The Financial Services team, under the leadership of Executive Superintendent of Corporate Services Shesh Maharaj, is proud to reflect on another successful year supporting the planning, development, presentation, and monitoring of the 2023–24 school year budget.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board’s budgets are primarily determined by the number of students served and the province’s Grants for Student Needs (GSN) and associated funding regulations. Additional revenues are sourced from one-time provincial grants, facility rentals, federal grants, extended day programs, and international education.
Budgets are closely monitored throughout the year, with formal interim financial reports presented quarterly to the Board of Trustees and the Audit Committee.
The fiscal year ending August 31, 2024, resulted in a balanced budget. Through conservative budgeting practices, rigorous budget oversight, and proactive engagement with budget holders, the Board remains in a strong overall financial position.
