Brighter Beginnings: A New Era of Student Leadership
The 2023-24 school year ushered in “Brighter Beginnings,” a theme sparking fresh opportunities in student leadership across WCDSB. For our elementary students, high school leaders shared insights on using their voice and embracing leadership, inspiring younger students to become active participants in their school communities. The popular Pen Pals Project also fostered connections between elementary and secondary students, building mentorship and offering valuable advice for the years ahead.
Our high school leaders celebrated unity through SAC events, where Student Activities Councils across WCDSB came together for a day of engaging games, hands-on leadership exercises, and inspiring speakers. This year, WCDSB’s Student Senate took a major step forward by drafting a constitution, establishing a stronger, more formal foundation for student representation.
In our commitment to keeping student voices front and centre, Student Senate also launched an Instagram account to connect with the entire WCDSB community, sharing updates and amplifying student leadership throughout the year.
